The Hand-finishing and pure vegtable tanning process that takes 6 months to complete is indeed a centuries old method. The leather which this produces should last 10 to 15 years. It shines beautifully and develops an even better patina with age (particularly the Burgandy “Cordovan” color). This is not a high-volume process…one that is truly an art…and more reminiscent of the days of cobblers making a single pair of shoes by hand. Water does not easily penetrate so it makes for a very durable leather shoe.
